Dicyandiamide also known as DICY is a water soluble compound that appears as a water soluble white crystalline solid.  It is mainly used in the production of melamine and a curing agent for epoxy resins and laminates for circuit boards, powder coatings and adhesives.  Diacyandiamide is also used in fertilizer formulations as a slow/continuous release nitrogen source to help reduce the negative effects of greenhouse gas emissions such as nitrous oxide and nitrates leaching into waterways.
