Disodium Sebacate is a derivative of castor oil.  It is used in detergents, cosmetics and as a corrosion inhibitor in lubricants.  DSS has been used to replace sodium nitrites in aluminum greases due to its fine particle size.  DSS also has applications as a coolant for aircraft and automotive applications.
